India vs England, NatWest Series 2007 - 2nd ODI
Date: 24 Aug 2007

Catches : 1 / Stumpings : 0
Batting: 21 runs (18 balls), 4s: 3/ 6s: 0

A controlled half-century from Sachin, an aggressive half-century from Skipper Dravid and effective slow bowling from the spinners ensured that India is back in the series.

Sachin has missed another chance to add to his centuries tally. He was given out on 99, probably due to a poor umpiring decision. But, the Indian batsmen combined together to post a healthy 329 for 7. The century opening partnership set the things up for India. But, a good 49 from Yuvraj and Dravid's late flourish of 92 not out from just 63 deliveries gave India a good total.

But, England looked like clearing the total at one stage and fell just 9 runs short of the target. Piyush Chawla took 3 wickets. Munaf Patel too had 3 wickets, but very expensive. The last over from Munaf gave away 20 runs, while England required 30 runs.

Result: India 329/7 (Sachin 99, Dravid 92 not out, Flintoff 5 for 56) beat England 320/8 (Bell 64, Mascarenhas 52, Chawla 3 for 60, Munaf 3 for 70) by 9 runs. The 7-match series is level at 1-1

Next match to look far: 27 Aug 2007, 3rd ODI between India and England
