India starts off the ODI series disastrously by losing to England by a huge margin. A poor bowling effort was followed by a spineless batting display.

The Indians fate was on the cards once Cook and Bell put together a fine display of ODI batting. Both of them posted their maiden ODI hundreds. While chasing 289 runs for a victory, the Indians started off in a very familiar fashion. Three wickets were lost to run-outs, including Ganguly'w wicket in the third over. The highest partnership of 68 runs between Dhoni and Dravid was accumulated in a losing cause. The match was surrendered once Anderson dismissed Sachin and Yuvraj and the score read a poor 34 for 4.

Will the Indians regroup and come back with a better display in the next match?

Result: England 288/2 (Bell 126 not out, Cook 102) beat India 184 (Dravid 46, Anderson 4 for 23) by 104 runs. England leads the 7-match series 1-0

Next match to look far: 24 Aug 2007, 2nd ODI between India and England
