India vs England, India in England, Pataudi Trophy Test Series (2007) - 1st Test
Date: 19-23 July 2007

Day 3 (21 July 2007):

The Indian bowlers had given a lifeline on the second day by bowling the England team under 300. But,the Indian batsmen threw the lifeline away and preferred to surrender meekly. The last six wickets were lost to the addition of just 56 runs this morning.

Poor batting display left the Indians reeling behind by 97 runs. The lead is substantial and might decide the outcome of the match. England had stretched the lead to 174 runs by the end of the day. With eight wickets in hand, England would go for the kill tomorrow. The only hope India have is the climate. If the rain GOD comes to their help, they should be able to save the match. If not, ...

1st innings:
England 298 (Strauss 96, Vaughan 79, Sree Santh 3 for 67)
India 201 (Jaffer 58, Dhoni 0, Anderson 5 for 42)

2nd innings:
England 77/2
