Asia XI vs Africa XI, Afro-Asia Cup 2007 - 1st ODI
Date: 06 Jun 2007

Catches : 1 / Stumpings : 0
Batting: 2 runs (4 balls), 4s: 0/ 6s: 0

Asia XI won the match by 34 runs in spite of the fighting and elegant hundred from Shaun Pollock. Pollock announced before the match that he won't be bowling. But he is such a wonderful cricketer that he cannot go without contributing in a big way in any match. Thats what he did today. He chose the occasion to register his first ODI hundred. He came in at No. 7 and was the last batsman out. He won the man of the match award for his 130 off just 110 deliveries.

At one stage, the Asians were comfortably placed when they nailed down the opponents to 87 for the loss of 7 wickets. But, gutsy performances from Chigumbera (40 runs off 37 deliveries) and Thomas Odoyo (39 runs off 35 balls) gave the Africans a good chance to fight. The 67 runs 8th wicket partnership and 103 runs 9th wicket partnership almost took the match away from the Asians.

Earlier, the Aisans made 317 for 9, thanks to half-centuries from skipper Mahela Jayawardene and Mohammad Yousuf. Dhoni was run out for just two runs but the other Indians Sehwag, Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh contributed well to the total.
